Caribbean Sprinter LTD Contract of Carriage

Effective date: January 1st, 2026

Luggage

There is no fee or charge for passenger luggage on regularly scheduled sailings, provided the luggage is limited to what a person can reasonably carry or drag by himself or herself in a single trip.

Checked luggage must be traditional, travel-industry recognized luggage, such as suitcases, backpacks, duffel bags, or similar personal travel bags. Boxes, cartons, barrels, sacks, garbage bags, loose goods, or other non-standard containers are not considered checked luggage and may be refused or treated as cargo, subject to separate rules and charges.

Carry-on items are limited to small personal items that can remain on the passenger's lap and do not encroach on seating, aisles, or other passengers. There is no overhead luggage storage on our vessels. Large backpacks, including backpacker-style packs, must be checked as luggage and will not be permitted as carry-on items.

Passengers are advised that vessel decks and cabin floors may be damp or not perfectly dry, depending on weather and sea conditions. Luggage placed on the floor is done at the passenger's own risk.

Fragile items, valuables, and electronic devices should not be packed in checked luggage. Such items should be carried personally by the passenger. The carrier is not responsible for damage to fragile items or electronics placed in checked baggage.

Checked luggage will be tagged at Check-In and stored in the vessel's cargo hold. Luggage will be available for collection after docking at the destination. Luggage may be scanned when loaded and unloaded and tracked internally for operational accuracy.

Passengers traveling on a round-trip itinerary may reuse their luggage tags for the return leg, provided the luggage remains unchanged.

Boarding Passes and Check-In

Check-In and issuance of a Boarding Pass are required to travel on any individual sailing. A ticket, booking confirmation, or purchase receipt is not a Boarding Pass and does not guarantee boarding.

Sailings may be oversold. Boarding Passes and seating are issued on a first-come, first-served basis at the time of Check-In, subject to availability.

Boarding Passes are valid only for the specific date and time of the sailing shown on the Boarding Pass. Travel on a different sailing requires Check-In for that sailing and issuance of a new Boarding Pass.

Check-In is available through the Check-In option on our website, via WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or in person. Check-In opens 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time of each sailing.

Passengers holding a Boarding Pass must be present at the terminal and ready to board no later than the Final Boarding Call, which occurs 10 minutes prior to departure. Boarding Passes that have been issued but are not present at Final Boarding Call may be cancelled, and the associated travel leg may be forfeited without refund or compensation.

Standby Boarding Passes

Standby Boarding Passes do not guarantee a seat. Standby passengers must be physically present at the terminal when the Standby List is cleared in order to be considered for assignment of a confirmed seat.

Standby seating is assigned based on availability after confirmed passengers have boarded. If a Standby passenger is not present when their name is called or when the Standby List is being cleared, the Standby Boarding Pass may be cancelled, and the travel leg may be forfeited without refund or compensation.

Offers and Quotations

All offers are free of engagement unless otherwise indicated. Quotations are valid for 14 days, unless specified. Caribbean Sprinter Limited is only bound to the quotations if they are accepted in writing within 14 days. For Charters, cancellations must be made 2 days before the scheduled departure date for every 25 passengers.

Weather

If weather conditions, such as hard storms or high water, obstruct the round trip, they will be considered a resolutive condition. The captain on duty will determine if there are such conditions. Partial or full refunds will be given for cancellations due to weather. If a sailing is cancelled due to inclement weather, the passenger will be fully refunded if no portion of the itinerary has been used. If a sailing is cancelled due to inclement weather for a return portion of an itinerary and the passenger does not wish to reschedule, a 50% refund will be issued for the total cost of the itinerary.

Passenger Behavior

Caribbean Sprinter Limited reserves the right to remove any passenger who misbehaves or is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Passengers must follow all instructions given by Caribbean Sprinter Limited or its employees. Eating meals, consuming large amounts of alcohol, or smoking combustion cigarettes is not allowed onboard during regular scheduled sailings. Removed passengers will not be refunded.

Itinerary Payment

Full payment is required prior to departure. If the passenger or other payor has payment terms with Caribbean Sprinter Limited, an itinerary charged to the payor's account is considered full payment as it relates to the full payment required prior to departure.

Charter Payment

Charter customers must pay 10% of the total amount due upon signing the agreement. Caribbean Sprinter Limited reserves the right to add a fuel surcharge of up to 10% if local fuel prices increase; this will be done in good faith. The total amount must be paid the day before the chartered trip. If the payment is not made on time, Caribbean Sprinter Limited may annul the agreement.

Information Collection

To remain compliant with the Belize Port Authority Harbour and Merchant Shipping Act, Cap. 234, Caribbean Sprinter Limited requires passengers to produce government issued photo identification upon request that includes one's full name and birthday. Caribbean Sprinter Limited staff have the right to refuse service to anyone who cannot or does not provide his or her full name and birthday or produce said identification upon request.

If you are a frequent traveler, you may request a profile be set up that will include your information and photo so that staff may identify you without production of your identification. At the time your profile is set up, you will need to produce your identification so that a staff member may verify your details.

Caribbean Sprinter Limited does not share your information with any other parties, other than as required by the Belize Port Authority, or other law enforcement agencies with proper request and legal investigative authority. Your information is not used for marketing, sold or given to any other parties other than the aforementioned, and it maintained internally for purposes of compliance with local government agencies, and communication regarding your travel.

Identification For Charter Passengers

Charter customers need only provide a list of passenger names for the chartered service and sign a liability waiver acknowledging that in the event of an emergency the company will not be able to provide a manifest with names, genders, birthdays, and contact information of passengers to authorities or other investigative or emergency response organizations.

Pets

Pets are allowed on board, but customer service may locate a sailing with fewer passengers for the comfort of the pet and other passengers. It is recommended to contact customer service prior to the sailing to discuss the pet's passage.

Cancellations and Changes

Cancellations made 24 hours before scheduled departure are 100% refundable, if the itinerary is unused. Once travel on an itinerary has begun for any passenger on the itinerary, no refunds will be provided. No-shows will result in a 100% fee. Changes to the itinerary can be made prior to the sailing time. If the reason for the change is delayed inbound travel, such as a delayed flight, passengers will be accommodated on the next sailing with availability. Caribbean Sprinter encourages passengers who cannot make their scheduled sailing to reach out to customer service for arrangements.

Lost or Damaged Personal Items

The company is not responsible for any personal items left on board but will make its best effort to recover lost items. For lost baggage, the company will provide up to $200 USD per passenger as compensation in the event the baggage cannot be recovered in 48 hours. For lost or damaged luggage, passenger must reach out to customer service and an investigation will be conducted. The company is not responsible for damaged items, however if passenger acts in good faith and a respectable manner, the company will remedy damages.

Liability

Caribbean Sprinter is not responsible for any injury or death resulting from a passenger's pre-existing health conditions. Passengers are solely responsible for ensuring that they are medically fit to travel and for informing Caribbean Sprinter of any pre-existing health conditions that may affect their safety during the voyage.

In the event that a passenger's pre-existing health conditions results in injury or death, Caribbean Sprinter will not be held liable, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct on the part of the company or its employees.

Passengers are strongly advised to consult with their physician prior to travel and to carry adequate medical insurance to cover any potential medical expenses incurred as a result of their pre-existing health conditions.
